Jacob Wiegand is a southern Illinois native who works as the photo editor at the Southeast Missourian in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Prior to his time in the Show Me State, Wiegand worked at The Jonesboro Sun in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and served as the photojournalism intern at The Tennessean, Deseret News, Dubois County Herald and The Dispatch-Argus

He has also held various staff and editor roles, including two semesters as photo and multimedia editor, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s student newspaper and news website, the Daily Egyptian

While taking a moments-based approach to his photography, the SIUC alumnus places a strong emphasis on the importance of community journalism.
